How Do You View Your Role in the World Today?

There are two types of people in the world today. I classify them as Creators and Destroyers! Destroyers view their role in the world as takers. Creators view their role in the world as contributors.

How you view your role in the world today will determine your actions, words and behaviors each and every day.

There are days when I used to view my role in the world as a taker. It came from the ‘entitlement’ attitude and mindset. As if the world owed me a favor. Entitlement is wrong. It’s selfish and more than that, it’s destructive. I see this all the time with people who literally think their parents owe them, or the world owes them, or other people should cater to them. Since when did they become better than everyone else?

You’ll see this in public when people drive and are selfish, or in stores when people treat the store employees with disrespect. Since when did takers become ‘kings’ in their own mind?

Entitlement comes from a scarcity-not enough faulty belief system. This leads to laziness, then blaming other people for their failure because things aren’t getting done. Entitlement also leads to victimhood. Victim of everything, everyone and anything. For reals though?

Today and recently I continuously view my role in the world as a contributor and if I slip back into destroyer mode I quickly repent and strive to be a Creator, someone who lifts and contributes. I want to contribute to the world. I want to contribute to my wife, my family, my neighborhood, my church, my work . . . the world! The only way to really do that is to increase your value to the world so you will know how to create real value for the world.

I’ve always been taught by my parents to serve, serve and serve more. Little did they know and little did I know that the more effectively we learn how to serve our fellowmen, the richer we become. Not just richer in blessings, but richer financially. It’s true. If dollars always follow value, then the more you increase your personal value to the world, the more the world will pay you. Create high value, receive high dollars.

My thoughts are simply this, stop being a taker, someone I call a Destroyer, and start being a contributor, someone I call a Creator. We can create life (I’m not talking about procreation right now either) by giving, serving, loving, helping, increasing or we can destroy life, by pulling people down, making fun of others, being lazy, being negative, not contributing etc.

How does Setema apply this right now in his life? Each day I have a choice to make, I am either going to create value, or I am going to take it. I choose today to create. I choose today to love. I choose to serve God. I choose to be happy. As I said earlier, if I fall prey to victimhood, I take myself out. It’s no one else’s choice but my choice. Funny huh? I choose where I stand and how I serve if at all.

Stop being a taker, start contributing and you know the funny thing that will happen? The more you focus on other people, on helping other people, on how YOU can more effectively serve and bless others, the happier you will be. The more you contribute without want, the more you will get. The more you create the happier you become!
