Creating the Life You Truly Want and Love

Browsing Posts in Everything

So my father in-law has worked for the city of Independence Missouri for 35 years. He retired and we flew out to celebrate his retirement (graduation) party.

We arrived Wednesday night and ate some delicious Church’s chicken. We need one in Utah.

Even when I vacation I still love to hit the gym, get the blood flowing, endorphins up and muscles pumped up!

We headed on over to 24 Hour Fitness and I literally felt like I was walking into  a military training camp.

No smiles, no hand shakes…

What is the problem? I am not a regular at this gym. I look like I work out. You think the front desk would welcome us in and shake our hand and introduce themselves etc. (to get a possible sign-up) but quite the contrary.

It took us 15 minutes before we could workout. They demanded to see I.D., money for a one day workout and then the evil stare as if they were better than us. (There were some weird vibes from the trainers and the management the whole workout.)

I understand the letter of the law and I understand the Spirit of the law. When we left the place I smiled and said good bye and of course they didn’t smile back. It was ice-cold for me even though we just finished working out.

Ask for my I.D. not a big deal. Make me wait 15 minutes to get into the gym, OK whatever.

But treat me like someone less than you, now we have a problem.

What happened to “the customer is first?”

What happened to take “care of the customer?”

There was ABSOLUTELY NO LOVE in that place.

During the workout (hey, it’s a gym, we grunt, scream, sweat and occasionally drop the weight) the manager came up to me with a look like (who the hell are you) and told me to not drop the weight since and this is what he said “I’ve put so much money into my machine please don’t drop the weight.”

So everyone else around me was dropping and clanging the weight.

I was flabbergasted at how their customer service was or should I say the lack of it.

A football team, a company, a family, an organization….they always take on the personality and character of their leader. This gym was in serious trouble if that was the manager.

When people go to a gym they want to feel like they belong. People have a need to feel a sense of belonging. Even if I am just visiting any gym, any restaurant, any theater….any place that provides a service or product for people should understand that they better take care of their customer or someone else will.

It was obvious this place needed training on the meaning of PEOPLE ARE ASSETS.

Did this manager think to train his people?  Why wouldn’t they smile, shake hands, be more cordial? They asked me with a sarcastic tone “Why don’t you have a membership here?”

I don’t need to be pampered but I do expect great service, especially if that is your job and it is what you do full time.

Can someone please train the 24 Hour Fitness in Independence Missouri?

In Contrast to the ridiculous service at 24 Hour Fitness, we went to Quicktrip (they are like a 7-11 or Maverick gas station) and it was strikingly opposite.

This is the conversation between me and the cashier from the moment I walked in.

Cashier: Good morning!

Me: Good morning Brother!

Cashier: Have a good workout? (He saw we were sweating and in workout clothes, great observation)

Me: Oh yeah.

moments later at the register….

Cashier: (with a smile) did you find everything OK?

Me: Yep.

Cashier: Those breakfast sandwiches are delicious.

Me: They look and smell that way.

Cashier: Will that be everything for you?

Me: Yesssir!

Cashier: $6.49….Credit or Debit?

Me: Credit

Cashier: Need your receipt?

Me: Yes please.

Cashier: Here you go…SEE YOU TOMORROW.

Me: No doubt have a great day!

My cousins in Missouri said “Every Quicktrip is like that.”

Can you see the massive difference?

Talk about service, leadership, friendliness, courtesy and creating value.

It was totally opposite of the 24 Hour Fitness Experience. Jesse and Torrie at 24 Hour fitness were like drill sergeants who had no type of people skills and the Cashier at Quicktrip acted like we were great friends.

I WOULD NEVER BUY A MEMBERSHIP AT 24 HOUR FITNESS after that experience.

Business is about turning Strangers into Friends, Friends into Customers and Customers into loyal Clients who pay you money. It’s not about acting like you have the power and you are almighty….like 24 Hour Fitness did.

I would however revisit Quicktrip over and over and over again.

What’s the lesson?

1. PEOPLE ARE ASSETS-

The most important thing in this world is the relationships we have with people. It’s not the things we acquire, it’s the people we meet, we develop relationships with and that we help. It is also the people who help us. How awesome are people!

Do you view your role in this world as a taker, a life-sucker, a person to make money off of people, a person with power and control? Or do you have that Creator mentality, where your role in this world is that of contribution and creating value for other people.

When you view your role as that of changing lives and helping other people, the smile always comes out and it’s easy to take care of people no matter what.

On our way home there was a man in a van stuck on the road. We turned around, pulled up behind him, turned on our hazards and pushed him out of the road.

We didn’t have to but WHY did we? Because our role is to CONTRIBUTE. People are the most important assets we can develop. The more we build our relationship capital, the more we create real wealth.

Are you creating meaningful relationships in your life wherever you go?

Are you the type of person who leaves people better than you found them?

or are you sucking the life out of people?

2. CLARIFY YOUR OBJECTIVE

If the 24 hour fitness people were trying to act like they were tough and macho…they did a great job. If their objective was to have us sign up for membership…I COULDN’T TELL.

I honestly could not tell you what their objective was, but I can tell you what the objective of the Quicktrip Cashier was…his was to create such a positive experience for me that I would want to come back and spend money there in that store.

Tony Robbins says “Clarity is Power!” When you have a clear cut objective, you’ll know exactly what you must do, how you must behave and what you must believe in order to accomplish that objective.

Do you have Clarity in your life?

Do you know what your objective is each day that you wake up and go about your activities?

If not, the ‘economy’ and the stresses of everyday life will slow you down to the point where you’ll become selfish in how you think, speak and behave.

3. NEVER LET OTHERS CONTROL YOU

Are the strings of anger, jealousy, pride, situation, circumstance, money and economy controlling you?

We left the gym talking about the less than ideal service. Instead of letting it affect us, we went about our day.

The next day I went in with the same attitude that I have every time I go to the gym. I said hi to everyone at the front desk, got focused and I didn’t become a victim of the circumstance.

I could have easily been mad because they treated me like crap the day before.

I didn’t. I chose. We always have a choice. We always can choose in the moment who and what we are going to stand for.

Are you a victim of circumstance? of other people? of things that ‘happen’ or are you in control of your life REGARDLESS of situation or circumstance.

Be like the Quicktrip Cashier. Be your best self and Create Value for others no matter what!

When you have this shift in your thinking, in your belief systems, life will open up in a way that you never believed possible.

Life will become sweeter and sweeter.

As you change, your whole world will change before you.

People are assets.

Be clear about your objective and Be the Chooser of your actions in every situation.

Don’t ever allow other people to control you in a way that causes you to act cruel, mean or thoughtless towards others around you. This will only bring you misery and unhappiness.

Become a Creator and Create the life you want and deserve!

In search of your life's calling? Below are some powerful questions to help you gain clarity on what you think you want!

A huge thanks to APX and their crew tonight as we spent time together going over how to gain greater clarity and then set goals (intention), commit, create a plan of ACTION, course correct and keep moving forward.

Trying to put 15 hours in 1 hour makes it fun…but this was just the beginning.

Here are some of the powerful questions that help me gain clarity on life…and interestingly enough…my answers change over the years because as I change my desires change.

Here are the questions I promised I would send out.

If you could interview God and ask Him what it was that you were divinely appointed to accomplish and be upon the earth, what do you think He would say?

IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR TIME DOING?

If you had 10 million dollars today what would you be DOING  right now with your time?

What would your life be all about?

What would you to day-to-day?

When will you start doing those things?

What is preventing you from doing those things now?

Are those the things you value most in life?

Would you like to be free to spend your time and your money on the things that mean most to you?

WHAT ACTION STEPS DO YOU HAVE IN THE IMMEDIATE TERM?

What things will you accomplish over the next 30, 60, 90 days?

What are the critical action steps?

What do those things lead to over the next year?

What will happen then?

What do you prefer our life to look like in 3 years? 5 years?  Write this all out.  More importantly, what will your life look like in 6 months to 1 year if you continue to do what you are doing? If you change, what will it then look like?

WHAT THINGS ARE TAKING AWAY FROM YOUR VISION? WHY?

WHAT THINGS CAN YOU ELIMINATE FROM YOUR LIFE CURRENTLY DRAINING YOUR ENERGY?

ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP WHO YOU ARE TO BECOME WHO YOU COULD BE?

WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF? WHY?  WHAT THINGS DO YOU AVOID BECAUSE OF FEAR?

Imagine you are at your funeral today, this is your funeral.

What do you want people to say about you?

Who is in attendance?

If you died today, what would they say about you?

What will it really take for you to live the life you love?

Are you sure you want what you think you want? Are you willing to sacrifice and pay the price?

Who is the top person in your industry?

What do they do?

What do they believe about themselves?

What are the typical thoughts they have each and every day?

What is their routine like?

Ok, that will give you some greater insight. If you go through and answer each question sincerely, writing your answers down…you’ll be amazed!

A friend of mine asked “What books have changed your life?”

So here it is…

I understand clearly her question in context.

The truth is…books, things, jobs, situations, catastrophe, war…they don’t change our lives…

WE CHANGE OUR LIVES by the action we take, by the knowledge we internalize, by the we way choose to react to everything that happens to us.

“It’s not what happens to us that matters…it’s what happens within us that makes the difference.”

I’ve known many people who have suffered great loss and come out of it a better and stronger person for it.

I’ve also known many people who have suffered great loss and come out of the situation with a harder heart, greater bitterness and a more embedded victim-hood mentality.

So in context…these are the books that have have a profound and transforming effect on my life! Many are spiritual and religious. Many are business and personal-growth related.

Thanks Sandi for asking. The Red Font titles are the ones I’ve read in the past year.

1. The Book of Mormon-the most powerful on m life and I have read it like 100 times or so. I still discover pearls of wisdom in it when I read it.

This doesn't include books in storage, ebooks and eprograms! Learning and applying is powerful! If you want to become something or someone...learn what they know and act like they act.

2. The Bible

3. Think and Grow Rich

4. Rich Dad Poor Dad-My first financial book that transformed everything for me-2003-read it in 3 days in Alabama.

5. Failing Forward

6. Good to Great

7. Man’s Search For Meaning

8. Cashflow Quadrant

9. Men of Valor

10. Purpose Driven Life

11. Peacegiver

12. The Miracle of Forgivness

13. Driven From Within (Michael Jordan)-sick book

14. Screw It Let’s Do It-Richard Branson-

15. Uncommon-Tony Dungy

16. The Alchemist -Just finished this one -awesome stuff

17. Permission Marketing-Just finished this

I love me some books...

18. Tribes

19. Crush It-Just barely finished this

20. L.E.A.P.

21. How To Win Friends and Influence People

22. The Game of Work

23. Strengths Finder 2.0

24. Execution-The Art of Getting Things Done

25. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People-read this in 1995 and still remember it like yesterday

26. Teaching By the Spirit-

27. Accidental Guru

28. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

29. Remembering Wholeness

30. Jackrabbit Factor

31. Hidden Treasures

32. The Work and the Glory

33. The Master Key to Riches

34. Atlas Shrugged-still working on this bad boy-it’s powerful content for sure

35. Getting in the Gap

36. Peace, Happiness and Joy

37. Outliers

38. It’s Not About the Bike-really helped me after the NFL

39. The Laws of Lifetime Growth

40. Missed Fortune

41.  Lectures on Faith

42. In the Eye of the Storm-1996 when I read it…couldn’t put it down-I served a mission just like him.

43. How to Become a Total Failure

44. The Power of Focus

There are more books that are in bins. This is the list of books that I have sitting on the shelves in the office.

I’ve read more books since graduating from college than I did my whole life up to that point.

I love to learn and I love to apply what I learn so that I may see the results of my life!

I have a ton of eBooks that I have not included on this list either.

WHY DO I LOVE TO READ, LEARN AND STUDY?

Because I want somethings in life that require knowledge, skill, understanding…when it comes down to it…the things I want so badly require me to be a different person.

How do I become that person? Through learning and taking action.

Learning does NO GOOD if I continue to believe, think and behave the same way as I did before I read the book or watched the program or took the course.

How bad do you want whatever it is that you want?

There certainly is a price to pay for it. I usually buy one or two books a month. I usually read 3 or 4 books at the same time and finish them simultaneously.

I finished The Alchemis, Crush It and Tibes almost within 2 weeks of each other.

It’s how I started reading because I love books so I have books in the bathroom, books by my sink so when I brush my teeth I read.

“I carry books with me so when I am in line, or in traffic or waiting on an appointment I can read.

I study scriptures and Holy Writ daily.

Garbage in…Garbage out.

Power in…More Power out!

I stopped watching T.V. about a year ago. I mean I watch…but it’s intentional. I watch 2 shows with my wife and we record them so there’s no commercials and wasted time.

LEVERAGE on TNT and LIE TO ME on FOX. Occasionally I’ll catch some American Idol with her but the time I watch T.V. is NEVER EVER EVER EVER mindless channel flipping. I’ll never sit and watch mindless endless T.V. There’s always something educational or purposeful about it.

I watch a full football game (which is rare) in like 45 minutes. No commercials, play to play, no half-time and then I move on with my day.

Depending on what you want, how bad you want it and why you want it…there will be no time for some of the things MOST people do.

  • video games
  • watching lots of TV
  • surfing the net without purpose
  • watching lots of Youtube video to be entertained
  • camping on Facebook or twitter
  • being lazy and idle
  • doing only the easy things in life without purpose and vision
  • solitaire
  • Warcraft

Not that there is anything inherently wrong with some of these things…but what are the results of doing all of these

If winning one of these was your goal...what would your daily beliefs, thoughts and ACTIONS be? There wouldn't be time for the ridiculous things most people 'fill' their time with today.

things?

Certainly not the results (goals) that I want in my life.

My current and life goal is to be an international life changer to inspire people to become the GREATEST VERSION of who they were created to be so they can in turn help everyone in this world they were supposed to help while they were alive as well as long after they pass away.

Playing video games, watching garbage on T.V. and wasting time…that certainly won’t get me there.

But if you don’t have goals…well, any action during the day will do just fine.

So what is YOUR Super Bowl Ring…your goal that you are daily working towards?

If you’re wandering through life aimlessly without purpose and goals and a vision of who you want to be and what you want to be…it’s not too late.

But consider this…

What is the real danger of you having no goals, end in mind, destination or vision for your life?

Pause…think about it…

What is the danger for your children and their children?

Pause…think about it…

What is the danger for those around you?

Pause…think about it…

It’s scary if you really think about it.

January is almost half way done and 99% of the people alive are still sleep walking and going through mundane motions.

Living is NOT going through the motions. I call that being a zombie.

Living is waking up each day with passion and purpose.

Living is being excited about the day ahead of you.

Living is knowing that you are doing something that is contributing to your family, your community…the world.

Living is giving life, love and happiness to others.

Living is doing what you love to do with passion and enthusiasm.

Living is enjoy the journey.

Living is growing!

Living is overcoming fears, doubts, obstacles and challenges!

What are your goals, visions and dreams? Your answer to this question will in part determine what you do daily?

What books have transformed your life?

I’d love to work with you. I put on free seminars to help people break the status quo of their current life. I’d love to meet you and continue to help you.

Click here to watch a powerful video of one of our events

Thanks again Sandi for asking the question…

Long answer but hope it helps.

I did an experiment called a Diagnostic Tune Up with some of my close friends who invested in my Goal Setting Goal Getting 8 Week Course.

I know how powerful the activity is that I call a “Diagnostic Tune-Up” because I do it throughout the year and now I can do it rather quickly in my own life.

I explain in this video the Diagnostic Tune-Up. If you really want to know how you can begin to TRANSFORM your life and change the results that you get… watch the video and leave a comment. It’s a free powerful AHA that I had I just had to record it…don’t get dazzled by the Hollywood effects.

Click here to get the free goodies that I offer you as my way of saying thank you. 3 Free Chapters, 1 Power Webinar Training and 3 Free 10 Minute Transformational Videos.

2009 is almost over. Did you have an amazing year?

Did you accomplish everything that you wanted to accomplish and more?

Or did you just get by…did you struggle? Did you grow?

As much as I love FEEL GOOD things I am seriously committed to helping people TRANSFORM their life. Real Transformation comes ONLY through taking ACTION.

I loved the movie The Secret but what I didn’t like was that people would make a vision board and then sit there all day and watch it and stare at it… all day.

They would say “Setema I’ve watched the Secret like 20 times already” to which my reply was “Stop watching the moving and start taking action. Stop looking at your dream board and start DOING and TAKING ACTION.’

Seriously though…how many of you are guilty of looking at your Dream Board and then going back to the regular daily routine which of course brings you the results you have?

Your life will NOT change by looking at a Dreamboard. It will change by you being inspired from the dream board and then ACTING and BEHAVING DIFFERENTLY!

The Program and Seminar Junkie

I know so many people who attend every seminar out there or who buy course after course after course and the courses end up sitting on their shelf or in the computer. How do I know this? Because I USED TO BE one of them.

Have you bought courses online or on T.V.? Have you attended a seminar lately? Why aren’t you taking action on what you learned?

I’ll tell you why in just a second.

Right now let’s look at YOUR life…

You want REAL RESULTS in your life that you purposely CREATE right?  I’m sure you want to lose weight? Maybe make more money? Even have more time in your day?

Maybe you’re tired of living paycheck to paycheck….

Whatever you DESIRE…can be yours. I am dead serious! If others are living life at a high level and really accomplishing goals….why can’t that be you?

The way to start is by getting crystal clear about what you want and then setting serious goals backed by a committed plan of action. Yes, there are other steps that are crucial but get clear on what you WANT and WHY you want it and the HOW will take care of itself.

Do You Know How To Set Goals?

Do you know how to accomplish your goals and accomplish them with a higher percentage rate of 87% or better? That means every time you set goals you accomplish your goals 87% of the time.

Consider that great baseball players are ‘great’ if they can hit the ball 3 out of ten times…that’s 30%. Would you like to hit the ball 87% of the time?

My most recent major goal that I accomplished was losing 50 lbs of fat. I went from 303 lbs to 253 lbs. I went from 28% body fat to 12.5% body fat. It was awesome. Just further proof that what we truly want can be done if we follow the steps to obtain it.  CLICK HERE TO SEE SOME SERIOUS PICTURE RESULTS.

Yep, I was very clear on WHAT I wanted and WHY I wanted it.

Your ability to live a life that you absolutely love starts with getting clear and then setting the goals backed with a committed plan of action. It continues with persistence and patience and passion!

If you don’t have persistence, patience or passion….Good Luck because you are going to need the luck and of course luck has nothing to do with creating prosperity in your life.

The WORST thing you can do is….NOTHING.

Yep, let fear stop you now and you’ll end up like the 100 year old people who were interviewed and their BIGGEST regret was NOT taking more risks and action in their life.

Don’t go to your grave with regrets like these people.

Go to your grave having lived life on your terms knowing you did EVERYTHING  you wanted to do.

Have an awesome day!

Click here to get your high priced items (a powerful webinar and three free trainings that can help you and the three free chapters to my top-selling book) all for FREE.

My first home, I built, designed and moved into in 2006...we would lose this home and much more two and a half years later

My first home, I built, designed and moved into in 2006...we would lose this home and much more two and a half years later

Exactly a year ago I moved my family from our home in Provo, UT. Although it was by choice to move we were highly motivated to move. I had lost my job, my companies, my investments, my partners and more importantly my pride. We were being kicked out by the bank because our home had foreclosed.

It was the week of Thanksgiving 2008 and my entire family helped us move. Neighbors and people from our ward helped us pack up, load up and relocate.

I was sad to leave. We had lived in this home for nearly two and a half years. It was our very first home plus I built it.

Many memories had been created in this home.

right when we first moved in summer of 2006, no furniture or blinds yet...What a great home this was for us.

Right when we first moved in summer of 2006, no furniture or blinds yet...What a great home this was for us.

  • The birth of our first child
  • Numerous family parties
  • Birthday parties
  • Church activities with the youth
  • Firesides in our home
  • Family home evenings
  • Countless prayers came from our home in Provo.
The living room where we played Scattegories, Catchphrase, watched T.V. celebrated and even slept.

The living room where we played Scattegories, Catchphrase, watched T.V. celebrated and even slept.

A good friend of mine offered his home to us. It was vacant and would foreclose within several months. I felt that it was the right place for us to go. It was a blessing from heaven.

I packed up our home and relocated to Highland, UT. I knew going into this home we only had 4 months there but my good friend said to take advantage of it. No rent for four months was a good thing.

Thanksgiving 2008 was unforgettable. We had just barely moved in to this temporary home and then ate at Golden Corral for Thanksgiving.

As a man, a provider, the protector and the presider of the home it is humiliating and embarrassing when you’re unable to provide for your family especially when you recently were able to provide abundantly for your family.

One of our first family parties back in 2006

One of our first family parties back in 2006

If you’ve experienced anytype of job loss, pay cut or challenge with the economy then you know exactly what I”m talking about.

One thing I’ve learned through all of this is that our faith will be tried and tested. We will be tried and tested, maybe refined and purified are the better choice of words.

I had a choice. I could either choose to learn, to be refined and to be humble or I could choose to be a victim, feel sorry for myself and blame others.

I chose the first.

It is moments like this that truly define who we are.

Are you choosing to be refined through your challenges or are you playing the victim role?

I designed the kitchen to fit a lot of people. We had so many great memories in this home. We were sad to lose it and leave.

I designed the kitchen to fit a lot of people. We had so many great memories in this home. We were sad to lose it and leave.

I often say “I am the man who loves his life.” I love my life, not because it’s easy and not because I don’t face challenges. I love my life because I clearly see God’s hand in it and the opportunity to become more like Him and His son.

The past two and a half years have been defining to say the least.

To be continued….

Especially For Youth-

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

What many of our youth today do not realize is that we are in a battle. The adversary is real and will stop at nothing to destroy us.

I spoke at a fireside last night and the youth that attended were simply amazing. The Spirit of the Lord was strong. As I spoke I looked into their eyes. I was looking at the chosen generation. I was looking at the valiant sons and daughters of Heavenly Father whom He had reserved to play in the final quarter of the game of life. I was humbled.

How does the adversary seek to beat us in the game of life?

Do you rationalize good and bad?

Do you rationalize and justify unacceptable behavior? If so simply stop NOW!

1. Rationalization and justification-If he can get YOU to rationalize and justify your actions, your behaviors, your words and your deeds he will have you.

If the adversary can get young women and young men to say within themselves “It’s OK to listen to this type of music, it’s not that bad.” or

“It’s ok to dress in this outfit, it’s not AS immodest as that other outfit” or

“I’ll just close my eyes in the movie on the bad part” or

“I’m not swearing or cussing…it’s just a joke to make people laugh” or

“It’s not like I’m having sex or anything…”

The adversary will temp us to RATIONALIZE from best to good and from good to OK and from OK to bad. Do not rationalize one bit. Right is right. Wrong is wrong. It’s white and black. There is NO grey in between. One step into the adversaries side is two feet on the wrong side of the line. Run as far away from anything that would take you away from the Lord.

Does Satan have you through Rationalization?

lazy2. Laziness and idleness-Winning the Spiritual Game requires work. And not just work, hard diligent work. If the adversary can get our youth to learn how NOT to work, they grow up as lazy beings. It takes work to build the Kingdom of God. It takes work to build our spirits, testimonies and lives.

I’ve seen too many instances where some of the most brightest and talented young people are lazy and then they are lazy in their twenties and one day they wake up in their thirties and they wonder why the results of their life are mediocre.

Learn how to work! Work hard. Work smart. Let work be a part of your life. Work is not just for financial reasons. Work is a spiritual law and a law in the Kingdom of God.

The most successful people in this world and in life have mastered the art of WORK. Great athletes WORK. The best performing artists WORK. Happy parents and spouses WORK. How do you turn potential into production? WORK.

Procrastination is a symptom of laziness and idleness. If you’re a procrastinator then you are lazy. You either get things done or you don’t. And if you don’t then you are lazy therefore the adversary will get you. Don’t let him get you. Move towards God by learning how to WORK and how to WORK hard.

Are you learning how to work, to work hard and to work smart?

Do you need toilet paper after you watch a movie, listen to music or talk with your friends?

Do you need toilet paper after you watch a movie, listen to music or talk with your friends?

3. Media-This is the one of the most deadly tools the adversary uses. Most kids today have an iPod and a cellphone. With the touch of a button kids have access to EVERYTHING and ANYTHING in the world. Pornography, music, lyrics, movies, downloads and articles are easily accessible. Media is so POWERFUL because once something lodged in your brain, you cannot remove it. Once an image has been seen, it is nearly impossible to remove it.

Do NOT rationalize that it’s OK to listen to music that is unacceptable to the Lord. The Spirit of God does not dwell in unholy temples.

Throw away your cds, delete any music from your iPod and computer. Throw away movies in your home that you would be embarrassed to have if the Lord walked in and wanted to watch a movie. I personally went through conversion process. I loved listening to music all the time. I loved action movies. I rarely listen to the radio. I do have an iPod but only positive and uplifting music is on there.

Do not be deceived into thinking that you can listen to or watch material that is offensive to the Lord. Allow only the positive great things in your life and you will notice the biggest difference in your life.

“Surround yourself with greatness and watch your life become great.” Chad Lewis I can testify of this principle because I have done this. Even in my home we do not allow any music or movies or language that would take the Spirit away from us.

4. Friends-“Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.”

If you hang out with the pigs, you will smell like the pigs. If you hangout in the fields of manure you will smell like manure. If you play in the dirt you will get dirty and if you play with fire…YOU WILL GET BURNED.

Our friends influence us so much. Again, do not RATIONALIZE that “I can help this person out.” If that is the case, they should be hanging out with you and your great friends.

I am NOT saying to walk around and JUDGE people. I am saying choose great people to spend your time with.

If your friends swear, cuss and share inappropriate jokes, it’s just a matter of time before you do. True friends would never ever do things to take you away from the Lord. True friends would stick up for you and respect you.

Choose the RightWhile playing for the New England Patriots we were down in New Orleans for the Super Bowl. All the players knew I didn’t drink and made sure that everyone knew I didn’t. “This guy doesn’t drink so get him a Sprite.” Even though we didn’t quite share the same values, they valued me and what I valued.

Become the type of friend that people know and will say “Hey, he doesn’t swear” or “You can’t say these things around this person” or “Nope, she doesn’t watch those types of movies.” When you become the type of friend you want to have, you will attract those types of friends to you.

Choose your friend wisely for they will determine largely the type of person you become.

If you don’t know that you are playing a game, then you don’t realize that there are rules to win. We are in a game. We are in a battle. These 4 principles will bless your life as you strive to live them and perfect them.

They have worked not only for me, but for thousands and thousands and thousands of others. Whether or not they work for you is up to you!

“Choosing to do what the Lord has defined as right will, in the long run, always lead to the best outcomes.” Elder Richard G. Scott

I know you can do it. I have done it. So many other’s have done and so can you. ”Do what is right let the consequence follow.”

NakiandGirls

Naki and his beautiful girls!

A very good friend of mine passed away last week. He left behind 6 beautiful daughters and an amazing wife. His name is Naki Maile.

He was an incredible man. I played ball with Naki at BYU nearly 10 years ago. I just saw him a week ago speaking to our youth group in church. What he shared made a difference in my life. I used to see him at the gym often. He was always so passionate about life and so happy. He was so genuine in his kindness and generosity.

I have never heard Naki speak ill of anyone. He never spoke guile of anyone and was always so helpful and always so happy.

I don’t feel ’sorry’ for his wife and daughters. I feel compassion and mourning with them. I feel gratitude to know we have a loving Heavenly Father who knows….He truly knows and is over all.

I feel compassion, love and gratitude for his daughters to know that their father was a man of love, a man of faith and a man of God. I know the Lord will bless them through the efforts of others. I know the lives of others will be blessed as they contribute to Naki’s girls.

The Lord can and does ‘consecrate our affliction for our good’ if we will trust in Him.

What a time to not only mourn, to feel the loss of someone so close to us, but to celebrate the life Naki lived, to celebrate this great time of testing, of trial and of hope. We have hope in Christ. We believe one day we will be reunited with those we love.

I feel hope, love and faith that one day Naki will be with his daughters. More than ever I believe his daughters and his wife have so much to live for to be able to be with him again.

If you would like to contribute to Naki’s famlily the link is www.NakisGirls.com. Sacrifice an extra meal or a movie and help out.

Make today the best day you possibly can. Tell the one’s you love how much you love them. Spend time with those who matter most and spend time on all that matters most. You never know when your time comes so that best thing you can do is to live each day to the fullest! Call your parents and express how much you love them. Do something great for your kids, your spouse, your friends and anyone who you have forgotten.

Thank you Naki for your example. Thank you for your love and friendship. Thank you for really living life to the end.

To his beautiful daughters and wife…we love you.

Daddy and Zion

Daddy and Zion

I love being a daddy. I am a very proud father of 2 boys who I love and adore so much. I love being a husband too but this is dedicated to the fathers out there.

The past two weeks have been amazing. My 2nd son was just born and I forgot how many diapers they go through in a day. I can change like 3 diapers in a 30 minute span…how awesome is that?

As an entrepreneur and online marketer I work from my home office. Therefore I have the chance to see them grow each and every day through the day.

12-18 diapers changed daily between my two boys.

Jumping on the trampoline, teaching Zion to ride his bike, Mac and Cheese, chips, apple juice, Kung Fu Panda, Cars, Hulk, Sound of Music, Yo Gabba Gabba, Mickey Mouse Playhouse, Handy Manny, Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, Diego, Agent Oso, Backyardigans, and the list goes on. My son watches TV in my office while I work. Can you say AWESOME!

Although there are countless books out there about fatherhood and parenthood there is nothing like being a father period!

Me and my two boys...I love it!

Me and my two boys...I love it!

I coached high school football last year and I could teach and coach and show and tell my players but there was nothing like getting out on the field and actually DOING it.

The same goes for swimming, tying knots, cooking food and FATHERHOOD. You can read all about it and watch videos about it but there is no substitution for jumping in the pool, actual knot tying, being in the kitchen and cooking and then there is no substitution for being a father.

I change diapers through the night and in the day to help my wife. If we are ever out of the house I ALWAYS change them. It gives my wife a break but more than than, it gives me investment time with my kids. I love them so much and I love being a dad. Oh no, I am far from being a perfect father and I have had to apologize to my 2 year old if I am ever out of line towards him.

Daddy and Izrael

Daddy and Izrael

I’ve learned that my 2 year old wants more and more attention these days so I must more than ever be prepared, plan and then be spontaneous with him.

I’m still learning how to be a father. I have great examples around me in both my fathers Setema and Royal. My brothers and my MPA brothers have been great mentors since they had kids before me and told me stories.

Daddy and Izrael at home!

I love being a daddy.

I was a member of the Super Bowl XXXVI New England Patriots. I have played football all over the country. I have made lots of money. I have traveled the world from Micronesia, to New York to Samoa to Florida to Australia, New Zealand and to Japan. These were amazing blessings for me to experience early in my life.

But NOTHING and I mean none of those things compares to being a daddy and loving and serving my kids. I can teach them, show them, mentor them and love them. I play with them, hold them, kiss them, chase them, bite them, smell them, bathe them, clean up after them….Yes it is hard and challenging at times…but no greater reward!

My two precious stripling warriors in training!

I would love to hear your stories about being a daddy and your experiences and thoughts.
